The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has been instrumental in shaping the concept of family on a pan-European scale, thus contributing to the harmonization of national legal systems in this fi eld. The fi liation is at the core of this concern and has been the subject of a large number of individual applications lodged with the ECtHR. This thesis examines the impact of ECtHR’s case-law on Greek law on filiation. The author examines, under the light of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), both traditional and modern family relationships and explores whether Greek law is in conformity or in conflict with ECHR standards.
